Edition 03 · verified public data

Marketing & sales technology YouTube benchmark

Publishing often is one thing. Reaching the right viewers is another.

Across 13 verified channels, the median publishing operation released 95 videos in the trailing year. Newer uploads earned 1.4 times the daily view rate of older work at the median.

Where viewers responded

0.99% of recorded views went to videos with a meaningful level of visible engagement.

Bimodal. Channels cluster near 100% or under 5%, so the median describes no real channel — use the quartiles, and use engaged_share_view_weighted when the question is 'what share of this industry's views actually land'. We count a video when it has at least 10,000 views and visible likes and comments equal to 0.2% of views or more.

The full range matters

One average cannot tell the whole story.

The figures below show the 25th percentile, the middle, and the 75th percentile. They give you a more honest picture of the category without turning the best or worst result into a target.

What to take from it

Use the benchmark to guide your next questions.

01

The middle number is not a goal.

Channels in this group tend to split into different performance patterns. Look at the full range before deciding whether you need more reach, a stronger response, or both.

02

More videos do not always mean better coverage.

A steady schedule shows that a team is publishing. It does not tell you whether the channel answers the questions buyers actually bring to YouTube.

03

A few hits can hide a weak library.

When average views sit far above the typical result, a small number of videos may be carrying the channel. Find out what made those videos work, then ask whether the idea can be repeated.

A note on the numbers

Useful evidence, with clear limits.

We leave out videos that are less than 30 days old because they are still gathering views. Public data cannot show impressions, click-through rate, spend, paid versus organic views, watch time, retention, traffic sources, or audience demographics.

Use this benchmark to spot the formats, topic gaps, and performance patterns that deserve a closer human review.
